Today, the homegrown dance happens everywhere: on commuter BART trains, at Golden State Warriors NBA games, and in music videos for Bay Area rap stars like E-40 and G-Eazy. Short for “taking up room on the floor,” turf dance unites dancers across The Town, with the older generation passing down the culture through all-ages battles and after-school workshops.
