The topics: Lina Ekomo is leading the battle to empower women in Africa. Conflict in the Central African Republic hits women hardest, but Ekomo is mobilizing them to take power and secure peace. Lina Ekomo is the Head of the network women’s leadership in the Central African Republic (RELEFCA) and of several African movement for women leadership. A former United Nations official, she has heard the cries of victims tortured by armed groups, and yet has hope that women can help lead her country to a new future. In her country, she is fighting for women to take an active part in politics. “I am optimistic about the future of the Central African Republic,” she says.
