The topics: On the 40th anniversary of the first reported cases of AIDS, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted failures within health systems around the world in dealing with not one pandemic but two. The Philippines has the fastest-growing HIV epidemic in Asia and the Pacific. Almost 50 per cent of those newly infected, such as young Francis featured in this story, are males between the ages of 15-24. We hear from him and from UNAIDS Executive Director Winnie Byanyima as the General Assembly adopts new measures to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.
