The topics: Leaders appealed for peace, climate action and international cooperation as the United Nations General Assembly’s annual general debate came to a close. Kicked off with a performance by global sensation BTS supporting the United Nations, the high-level week heard from scores of leaders addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, security threats, climate change and more. Top-level officials also met on racial justice, food security and the situation in Afghanistan. Held from 21 to 27 September, this year’s general debate was conducted both in person and virtually because of the pandemic.
