This year peacekeeping missions in Kosovo, Cyprus, Abyei and the Democratic Republic of the Congo harnessed the power of street art to promote social change. This is a story of new versus old, the search for identity, and of growing pains. Short of owning property, women in Kosovo are often treated as property – with almost 70 per cent of Kosovo women saying they have experienced some form of domestic violence, regardless of ethnicity, social class or education. Examining the nexus between violence and property rights, Not Your Property looks at how customary norms in Kosovo leave women vulnerable to domestic violence.
