African Union/UN: Foundation of multilateralism - Security Council Briefing | United Nations
Briefing by Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of United Nations Office to the African Union, on strengthening the partnership between the United Nations and the African Union on issues of peace and security in Africa, including the work of the United Nations Office to the African Union (S/2024/629). Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, Head of the UN Office to the African Union (UNOAU), said that the partnership between the United Nations and the African Union, “as well as with other regional organizations, forms the foundation of an effective, networked multilateralism.” Addressing the Security Council, Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, said, “The strong and enduring partnership between the United Nations and the African Union, as well as with other regional organizations, forms the foundation of an effective, networked multilateralism — essential to confronting the complex, evolving, and interconnected threats that today weigh on peace, security, development, and human rights, particularly in Africa.”
